BI performance counter: Total Requests

Description

This performance counter measures the total number of requests to connect to the Analysis Services instance.

You can go through the MSMDSRV.Log file to have a look at details of connection requests. The value of this counter is reset whenever the service is restarted.

  1. Inspect the Windows Event log using the Event Viewer
  2. Verify SQL Server Analysis Services TCP/IP for remote connectivity
  3. Ensure that firewall is not blocking connections from client to server
  4. Check if the SQL Browser service is started
