Description

Displays the average time / latency in seconds to perform volume disk read operations. Note 1 sec = 1,000 milliseconds. Microsoft recommend for good performance I/O latency should not exceed 25 milliseconds.

  1. Add additional memory
  2. Increase the max memory allocation
  3. Upgrade storage
  4. Make sure partitions are aligned correctly
  5. Indexing, look for high IO queries
  6. Data page compression if CPU usage doesn’t suffer
  7. Spread database files over other (less busy) volumes
